Violet Ray Epley Epps

Star - Violet Ray Epley Epps, age 95, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Epps was born in Burke County on August 7, 1922 to Elmer Lee and Katie Edward (Lane) Epley. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Biscoe and was retired from Clayson Knitting Co, Inc.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Houston Epps, and sisters, Maxine Brown and Mary Dennison.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Atkins of Star, Donna Hyatt (Steve) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Arlene Watkins (Michael) of Peyton, Colorado; three sons, James Harrison Atkins (Linda) of Aberdeen, David B. Atkins (Lisa) of Star, and Roger Epps (Sue) of Indian Trails; two sisters, Ramona Atkins of Troy and Louvinia Shank of Biscoe; one brother, Gilbert Epley of Seagrove; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 13, 2017, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Star, NC.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Biscoe, 225 East Main Street, Biscoe with the Rev. Larry Wilson and Rev. Josh Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
