Shirley Dean Byrd Thompson

Biscoe - Shirley Dean Byrd Thompson, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Montgomery County on March 28, 1938 to George Thomas “Buck” and Bessie (Thompson) Byrd. She was a retired hosiery mill bookkeeper. She had worked at Miss Adventure, Montgomery Hosiery, Pinehurst Furniture, and Edward Tire Company. Her church affiliation was Cornerstone and Tabernacle Baptist Churches.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Claude R. Thompson, of the home; four sons, Rev. Charles "Chuck" Thompson of Apex, Donald Keith Thompson of Samarcand, Barry Dean Thompson of Candor, and Eric Shawn Thompson of Wilmington; brother, Roger Byrd, of Chaparel, NM; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren..

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 3, at Candor Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Thompson and Rev. Mike Free officiating.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Candor Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
