Seagrove - Max Gene Cagle, age 83, Steeds Community, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro with his family by his side.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, November 15, at Phillips Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, at New Center Christian Church with Rev. Wayne Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Max was born on October 16, 1936 in Moore County, son of the late Cecil and Effie Hancock Cagle. He was retired from Clayson Knitting in Star with 31 years as a supervisor.
He enjoyed woodworking, flea markets, gardening, and riding his four-wheeler with his dog, Willie. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shurby Spencer Cagle, of the home; daughters, Darlene Cagle Hill and husband, Billy, of Denton, Misty Cagle Smith and husband, James, of Ether, and Tangee Cagle of the home; brother, Jerry Cagle, of Ether; grandchildren, Holly Hill, Brian Hill and wife, Laura, Christopher Smith; and great-granddaughter, Ivy Hill.
