Star - Alfred Norman Hooker, Jr., age 78, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in
Mr. Hooker was born in Moore County on January 15, 1941, to Alfred Norman Hooker, Sr. and Bertha Nall Hooker. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the US Army, where he served in the Big Red One Infantry Division in Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lane Hogan Hooker, and sisters, Eva Jane Hooker and Libby Hooker Welch.
He is survived by his sons, Ricky Hooker and wife, Karen, of Star, and Ray Hooker of Star; sisters, Betty Frye and husband, Ernie, of Carthage, Linda Jacobs and husband, Lonnie, of Carthage; brother, Jerry Hooker and wife, Doris, of Seagrove; and special friend, Diane Needham, of Eagle Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star and other times at the home, 357 Spivey Road, Star.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Dover Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Bouldin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard.
