Eagle Springs - Alice Crabtree Freeman, 83, of 128 Freeman Lane, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Randolph Hospital with her family by her side.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Preacher Kevin Freeman and Rev. Clyde Allen officiating.
Mrs. Freeman was born on June 20, 1927, in Moore County to Walter and Edna Davis Crabtree. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Russell Hosiery Mill. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Leonard Freeman and children, Larry Raymond Freeman, David Leonard Freeman, Annie Ruth Wade, and Walter Ray Freeman.
Alice was the center of a large, energetic, and growing family. She was very proud to be the oldest of 5 living generations. She loved her family, her home, and gardening. She welcomed everyone with open arms, never met a stranger, and you never left her home hungry.
She is survived by her son, Donald L. Freeman, of the home; daughter, Irene Williams, of Asheboro; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, February 18, 2011, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
Alice, God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace Be Thine". It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
