Barbara Dunn

Barbara Jean Maness Dunn, age 83, of Hialeah, Florida died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Vita's Hospice Care at Hialeah Hospital in Hialeah, Miami/Dade County, Hialeah, Florida.

Mrs. Dunn was born in Biscoe NC, on July 24, 1932 to Robert Paige and Emily Carrie Maness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Eugene "Jim" Dunn Sr., and her son James Eugene "Jimmy" Dunn Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra "Debbie" Sierra; Grandchildren, Amy Sanchez (Santi Hil), Linda Habich (Michael); Great Grandchildren: Alexi Sanchez, Ciera Sanchez, Logan Hil, Leila Habich, Stephen Habich: Special friends, Betty Collier, Vada Lacari, Helene Berard, Joanie, and Don Mitzell.

She graduated from Biscoe High School and never missed a day of school during the twelve years. She loved playing basketball, and after her game, changed into her cheerleader outfit and was a cheerleader for the boys basketball game, She was involved in every club and activity in the school.

Barbara was a loving, dedicated Mother, and stayed home with her children while they were growing up. She was very loyal and devoted to her family. Everyone knew she was just a phone call away, and that she would be there for you anytime. She loved her family dearly.

She was a very social person, always finding fun in everything she did. Every day was an adventure for her, and the ones surrounding her, family and friends. She was a good storyteller when it came to telling about the things she did. She could make anybody laugh. Friends would gather, in living rooms or around campfires, and Jim would play guitar, and they loved to sing country music.

She has been a member of the Moose Club for more than 30 years, and loved playing cards with her friends. She also loved to travel. She lived in Florida, but Biscoe was always home to her.

She was a telephone operator after high school. When she and her husband, Jim, moved to Florida, she was a hairdresser, and then worked for Pan Am vending company as the manager of the money room.

There was a graveside inurnment memorial service Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 4 PM at the Biscoe Cemetery, Biscoe, NC. with Rev. Dr. Craig Freeman officiating.
