Barbara B. Kennedy

Barbara Brewer Kennedy, age 69, of Star, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at her home. Barbara was born on February 14, 1940 to the late Willie and Glennie Davis Brewer. She was also preceded in death by brothers Thomas Brewer, Vernon Brewer and Gurney Brewer, and by sisters Dorothy Auman and Ruth Kennedy. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Kennedy, of the home; daughters, Sonya Sasser of Star, Karen Hooker and husband, Rick, of Star, and son, Mark Kennedy, and wife, Darla, of Oberarnbach, Germany; grandchildren, Stacey Fowler of Aberdeen, Jeremy Fowler and fiance Pamela Schaette of West End, Courtney Sasser of Aberdeen, Jani Davis of Star, and Emma Kennedy of Oberarnbach; sisters, Marie Chriscoe of Seagrove, Betty Garner, and husband, Vernon, of Robbins, Geraldine Frye, and husband, Kinney, of Robbins, brother, Joe Brewer, and wife, Shirley, of Seagrove, and sister-in-law, Edna Cole, and husband, Charles, of Cary; and many adored nieces and nephews. Barbara was a 1961 nursing graduate of High Point Memorial Hospital. She retired from First Health Moore RegionalHospital in June of this year after 47 years of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spoiling her best little girls and boys. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, Star. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, October 22 at 4:00 p.m. at Dover Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
