Star - Betty Lou Freeman James, age 84, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Ms. James was born in Montgomery County on August 23, 1934, to Lewis and Bertha Ellen Callicutt Freeman. She was a retired textile employee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, June Freeman, Dewey Freeman, and Hubert Freeman; sisters, Bertha Tucker and Fannie Lee McBride; and step-son, John Taylor "Buddy" James.
She is survived by her son, Richard "Ricky" Keith James of Star; two step-daughters, Connie James of Salt Lake City, Utah and Linda Maness of Robbins; several nieces and nephews; and pet dog, Drawback.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 13, from 1:00 - 1:45 PM at Phillips Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Marion Poythress officiating. Interment will be in Star PHC Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montgomery Humane Society, 1150 Okeewemee Road, Troy, NC 27371.
