Billy Garner Star - Billy Garner, 78, of 300 Broad Acres Lane, died Monday, December 1, 2008, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Bascom Chapel UMC Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Richardson and the Rev. Jammie Cockman officiating. He was a native of Moore County and was a retired lumber packer. Surviving are his daughters, Annie Kellis of Star, Julie Mount of Star, Evelyn Sanders of Eagle Springs, Ellen Coleman of Star; sister, Marie Hare of Hampton, Va.; brothers, Lennie Garner of Robbins, Robert Garner of Robbins, Otis Garner of Robbins; half-brother, Ellie Morgan of Eagle Springs; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star and other times at the home of Annie and Chuck Kellis, 1307 Tarry Church Road, Star. Phillip Funeral Home in Star is serving the family.
