Carla Pernell Garrison

Carla Pernell Garrison, age 55, of Charlotte, NC passed away on March 30, 2023. Carla was born on October 30, 1967, in Wake County to Charles Allen Garrison and Pernell Kearns Garrison. She was preceded in death by both parents.

Carla is survived by her brother-in-law and sister, Daniel and Dawn Deckard of Charlotte, NC and her niece, Danielle Deckard of Lakeland, FL.

Every day was Saturday for Carla, she was full of pure joy, brought sunshine into every room, never met a stranger, and always had a smile on her face. She loved praising the Lord, dancing, singing, and watching tennis. She was a faithful member of the Joy (Special Needs) Ministry at Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews, NC and her favorite Holiday was Christmas when she couldn’t wait to put out cookies and milk for Santa, sprinkle carrots on the sidewalk for the reindeer, bake a Birthday Cake for Jesus and play Mary in the Joy Ministry Church play.

Carla had a signature song called ‘Love Is’ that she sang many, many times for friends, family and at special events which is true to how Carla loved everyone…following are the Lyrics.

The Garrison/Deckard family is being served by Phillips Funeral Home in Star, NC and a Private Burial Service was held on July 15, 2023.

Memorials can be given to the following two organizations. Carla’s kidneys were donated through LifeShare Carolinas so that two other people could live a better and longer life. Also, for the last 8 months of Carla’s life, she was able to live out her dream of living independently in a Group Home through InReach.
