Biscoe - Charles M. Johnson, Sr., 84, of 202 North Pine Street, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Troy Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Speering and Rev. David Hudson officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born in Montgomery County to Ernest Caswell and Deborah Ethel Maness Johnson. He graduated from Biscoe High School and UNC-Chapel Hill. He began his career in the Montgomery County Register of Deeds working under Thad Cranford. He then moved to the office of Clerk of Court, where he was employed for 33 years (longest in state of NC).
He was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, elder, and clerk of session. He was a member of Montgomery County Historical Society, Trinity Music Academy, MCC Board of Trustees, Morehead Scholarship Committee, and Montgomery County Democrat Party. He was a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his son, Charles M. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Kellee, of Biscoe; daughter, M. Ellen Crisco and husband, Michael "Mike", of Biscoe; son James C. Johnson and wife, Waynette, of Pittsville, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Meagan Johnson, Charles M. Johnson III, Micah Crisco, Madison Crisco, Kathryn "Katie" Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Wyatt Johnson; brother, Leach Johnson and wife, Edna, of Biscoe.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
