Charles "Buddy" Glenn Luquire, 76 years old of Biscoe, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2015 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
Charles was born July 18, 1938, in Scotland County, NC to his parents, Leo and Helen Luquire. He graduated from Biscoe High School and attended North Carolina State University. Charles married Iris Lou Davis on October 4, 1959. They lived in several cities throughout North Carolina before returning to Biscoe to care for their family members.
Charles retired from Glen Raven Mills in 1998 where he had served as Superintendent of Manufacturing and Plant Manager from 1971-1998 at the Burlington, NC plant. Prior to his employment with Glen Raven, he worked as an overseer of weaving, carding, spinning and production planning at Spring Mills in Biscoe.
Charles was a 32nd Degree Mason for 42 years. He was a member of Bula Lodge #409 in Burlington, the Scottish Rite in Greensboro and Amran Temple of the Shrine in Raleigh. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time at their mountain house on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
A loving and devoted husband of 55 years, he adored Iris and provided care for her daily during the last several years. His greatest pleasure in life was doing for others, and providing for his family.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Iris Luquire, daughter Holly Luquire of Randleman, granddaughters Kaelyn Young of Burlington, Kyndall Hill of Randleman, great granddaughter Kennedy Young, Charles's brothers Max (and Jane) Luquire and Tommy (and Patti) Luquire, and Charles's uncle Arnold ( and Delores) Hastings. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Helen Luquire.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday February 16 at Phillips Funeral Home in Star, NC.
Due to inclement weather, the funeral service has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 18 at 11:00 am at Uwharrie United Methodist Church in Troy, NC with Reverend Glen Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where there will be Masonic graveside rights.
