Biscoe - Charlie Sherrell Brooks, 88, of 458 Coggins Road, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Biscoe Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. He was born in Guilford County to George C. and Mary Hogan Brooks. He was a World War II US Army veteran and was a retired railway agent with Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Crehan Brooks, and his faithful wife of 53 years, Bernice Coggins Brooks. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Brooks Carrick, of Biscoe; two sons, Randy A. Brooks and wife, Lina, of Seven Lakes, Mike Brooks and wife, Susan, of Kinston; two grandchildren, Meredith Brooks of Ayden, Bryan Brooks of Seattle, WA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, October 19, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the veteran's charity of your choice. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Biscoe Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, October 19, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
