Charlie Herbert Gillis

Charlie H. Gillis Seagrove - Charlie Herbert Gillis, 76, of 312 Beane Road, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2008, at Asbury Baptist Church, where he was a member and deacon, with the Rev. Joshua Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard. He was a native of Montgomery County and was a retired upholsterer. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Della Hancock Gillis, of the home; daughters, Judy Ingle of Asheboro, Deborah Gillis of Bardstown, Kentucky, Tina Mabe of Star; sister, Deliah McCaskill of Biscoe; brothers, Paul Gillis of Goldsboro, Bobby Gillis of Seagrove; one grandson; two step-granddaughters; one step-great grandson. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Asbury Baptist Church, 395 Asbury Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341. The family is being served by Phillips Funeral Home in Star.
