Clarence "Wayne" McBride

Clarence "Wayne" McBride, age 84, of Star, passed away on January 12, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

Born on October 13, 1940, in Richmond County, Wayne was the son of William and Pauline White McBride. He dedicated many years of his career to Energizer Battery, where he worked as a machine operator until his retirement. Wayne was an active member of Asbury Baptist Church. Wayne was the patriarch of his family, who he loved dearly. He loved racing and was an avid Duke basketball fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Auman McBride.

He is survived by his son Ricky McBride (Pat) of Star; daughter Lisa Atkins (David) of Star; stepdaughter Lorra Caudill (Allen) of Star and stepson Billy Rayle (Sherrie) of Seagrove. As well as eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Asbury Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Wayne's memory to Asbury Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 218 Asbury Church Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341.

The family will be gathering at the home of Lisa and David Atkins, 2091 US 220 Alt N., Star, NC.
