Collen Allen Boroughs

Seagrove - Collen Allen Boroughs, age 85, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 23, 2014. Mrs. Boroughs was born to Soloman and Etter Monroe Allen on January 7, 1929. She worked at A J Schneirson in Randleman several years before having children. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Randolph County Schools working at Seagrove Elementary School. She enjoyed working and serving the children for over 30 years. She was a member of Seagrove Christian Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School classes, and helped with Bible School for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her brother, sisters, Martha Comer, and family; visiting with her classmates, spending time with her family and her two precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, yard work, and reminiscing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Boroughs, and sister, Mae Williams. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sarah Boroughs, of Asheboro; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Michael Hardy, of Mount Airy; two special grandchildren, Megan and John Hardy, of Mount Airy; one brother, J. D. Allen, of Ulah; four sisters, Ruth Williamson, Inez Blake, Louise Giles, and Martha Morgan, all of Candor. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the family home in Seagrove. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Seagrove Christian Church with the Reverend L. D. Pritchard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Seagrove Christian Church, PO Box 29, Seagrove, NC 27341. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the family home in Seagrove.
