Biscoe - Dean Bridgers Dawkins, 64, of 143 Martin Road, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at her home after a short illness. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Free, Rev. Kevin Thompson, and Jeff Jordan officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery. Mrs. Dawkins was born in Suffolk County, Virginia to Howard and Marion Stephenson Bridgers. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a transcriptionist for Stanly Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margaret Lynn Bridgers. She is survived by her husband, Joe Dawkins, of the home; daughter, Marion Garner, of Mt. Gilead; son, Ian Garner, of Greensboro; sister, Susan Walton, of Elon; brothers, Whit Bridgers of Jackson, Tom Bridgers of Rich Square; six grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2013, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home.
