Winston-Salem - Debra Jean Comer, 57, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina died on Tuesday, October 18, 2010, after a short illness. She is the daughter of Ernestine Brewer Comer of Seagrove, NC. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Comer, and brothers, Stanley R. Comer, Van M. Comer, and Christopher H. Comer, all formerly of Seagrove.
She is survived by her mother, Ernestine Brewer Comer, nephew, Joshua B. Comer, niece, Dana V. Comer, and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Comer and Sherrie Perry, both of Seagrove.
Debra was a graduate of Gardner Webb where she received her BS in Nursing and worked in Neonatal Care in Winston Salem for 32 years. She was currently employed by Novant Health of Winston Salem in infection prevention. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and Star Chapter 111 Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Dover Baptist Church, Seagrove, where she was a member, with Dr. Donald Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, NC 27356 and other times at the home of her mother, 1615 Dover Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dover Baptist Church, 2527 Dover Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
