Della Hancock Gillis

Della Hancock Gillis, age 88, of Seagrove, passed away on July 17, 2024, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living.

Mrs. Gillis was born on June 26, 1936, in Montgomery County to Remus and Maude McNeill Hancock. Della worked in the hosiery mill for many years then later went to work at Black & Decker until her retirement and she was a member of Asbury Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Gillis, brothers Howard Davis, Wade Davis, Junior Hancock, Shuford Hancock, Elzy Hancock, Arnold Hancock and Ira Remus Hancock and sister Mary Neese.

Della is survived by her daughters Judy Ingle (Larry) of Asheboro; Deborah Gillis of Kentucky; and Tina Mabe of Seagrove. Grandchildren Charlie Seth Mabe, Jamie Mabe, and Angela Cook, as well as 5 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Asbury Baptist Church at 11:00 am with Rev. Allen Mashburn and Rev. Garry Reeder officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
