Star - Donald Patterson Maness, 81, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Maness Family Cemetery in Biscoe with the Rev. Betsy Soto officiating.
Mr. Maness was born in Montgomery County to Thomas Lester Maness, Sr. and Anna Eloise McInnis Maness. He was an automobile mechanic for many years at Clegg Kearns Pontiac in Star and McRae Chevrolet in Troy, where he retired in 1996. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he served in Germany during peace times. He was a member of the Biscoe VFW Post # 9881.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Maness Cook, and nephew, Jimmy Cook.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas L. Maness, Jr., and wife, Diane, of Star; nephews, Tommy Cook and wife, Carolyn, of Morehead City, Barry Cook and wife, Mary, of McLeansville, Kenneth Cook of Cary, Gretchen Cook, widow of Jimmy Cook, of Raleigh, Dana Maness of Wadesboro, and Earl Thompson of Pembroke; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
