Era Brooks Smith

Star - Era Brooks Smith, age 90, formerly of 124 Leach Street, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Star, where she was a member, with Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Interment will be in Candor Cemetery. She was born in DeKalb County, Georgia, to Carl and Pearl Brooks. She retired from the Finishing Department at Russell Hosiery Mill. She is survived by her sons, William (Bill) Smith of Star, Danny Ray Smith of Shallotte; grandchildren, Karen Frye of Troy, Greg Smith of Star, Jeff Smith of Jamestown, Chris Smith of Candor; six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, and other times at the home.
