Candor - Essie Lee Haywood Sexton, age 91, died Friday, September 4, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Sexton was born in Montgomery County on November 19, 1928 to George and Ada Richardson Haywood. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and was retired from Russell Hosiery Mill in Star. She loved her church, flowers, and quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Garrett Sexton; granddaughter, Kaci Pritchard; and her siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Pritchard and husband, Bruce, of West End; son, Bradley Eugene Sexton, and wife Bea, of Candor; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her body will lie in state from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 7, and from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, at Phillips Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Main Street Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 24/27 W, Biscoe with the Rev. Chris Mabe officiating.
