Asheboro - Ethel Mae Carter Saunders, age 87, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Mrs. Saunders was born in Cumberland County on November 4, 1931 to Marvin and Lilly Ola Harris Carter. She was the owner/operator of Ethel's Uniform Shop in Albemarle, Asheboro, and Troy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Carter, and sister, Barbara Olitant.
She is survived by her son, Roger Lee Saunders and wife, Denise, of Troy; sister, Janie Milam of Lexington; half-sisters, Pat Jacobs of Hope Mills, Jennette Deaton of Troy; half-brothers, Larry Blue of Raeford, Cecil Blue of Troy, and Bill Blue of Hope Mills; grandson, Brian Nash and wife, Dianna; great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Saunders, of Southport; and great-grandson, Tyler Nash.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m., Saturday, August 3, at Phillips Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Poindexter officiating. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
