TROY - Mr. Eugene Horace VanHoy, 85, passed away on November 1, 2014. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Southside Cemetery in Troy.
Mr. VanHoy was born June 13, 1929 and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Foster Brantley VanHoy of Troy. He was educated at Troy High School. Mr. VanHoy was a member of Saints' Delight Primitive Baptist Church in Kernersville, having served the church 20 years as a deacon. He loved the Lord and his church dearly. Mr. VanHoy served as a combat medic in the United States Army Second Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict in 1952-1953. He worked as a plant manager of milk and orange juice plants including Montgomery Dairy, Long Meadow Farms, Flav-O-Rich, Coble Dairies, and World Citrus.
Along with his parents, Mr. VanHoy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Lee Needham VanHoy; brothers, Brantley and Robert VanHoy; and, sisters, Elsie Lee Bell, Madge Kearns, and Blanche Nehr.
He is survived by his sons, Lee VanHoy of Troy and Ronnie Richardson and wife, Robyn, of Sanford; brother, Jim VanHoy and wife, Barbara, of San Jose, California; sisters-in-law, Lottie Mae VanHoy of Waycross, Georgia and Margie VanHoy of Troy; granddaughters, Lee Ann Patterson and husband, Chris, of Lillington and Rhonda Jean LeLiever and husband, Andrew, of Raleigh; great-grandsons, Camron and Adam Patterson and Coleman, Bobby, Evan, Jonathan, and George LeLiever.
