Biscoe - Franklin Eugene “Peanut” Holyfield, 77, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 5, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating. Interment will be in Candor Cemetery.
Mr. Holyfield was born in Richmond County to James Taylor and Bertha Lee Evans Holyfield. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired truck driver and former owner of Pat Holyfield Trucking Co.
He loved all of his family especially his grandchildren who were a regular subject of his conversation. He was an opinionated man with quick wit and knowledge that surpassed his schooling. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ruby Jackson and brother, Junior Holyfield.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Patsy Hopper Holyfield, of the home; sons, Rev. Mike Holyfield (Bobbie) of Robbins, Andy Holyfield of Biscoe; sister, Sally Respress (Tim) of Plymouth; brother, Paul Holyfield (Joanna) of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Ann Holyfield, of Roper; grandchildren, Wayne Holyfield, Ashley Chriscoe, Amanda White, Eric Freeman; great-grandchildren, Taylor Holyfield, Levi and Mason Cox, Levi Freeman; and several nieces and nephews who he dearly loved.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, Saturday, March 4, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
