Fred Rudolph Richardson

Eagle Springs -- Rev. Fred Rudolph Richardson age 90, died peacefully December 24, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Community Baptist Church, 1045 Currie Road, Candor, NC. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3925 Old Carthage Road, Carthage, NC. He was born in Moore County, January 3, 1923 to Samuel Jasper Richardson and Flossie Brown Richardson. He was a farmer and contract logger before his call into the ministry on December 11, 1950 at the age of 27. He has spent the last 63 years preaching the gospel. He started his ministry conducting cottage prayer meetings in homes and holding tent revival meetings. Later in his career he preached in prison camps in Central North Carolina. During his ministry he pastored Cross Roads Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Community Baptist Church. He spent the last 40 years of his ministry as pastor of Community Baptist Church, where he was known to his congregation members and friends as "Preacher Fred." For many years he had signs on his car that read, "Jesus is Coming Soon, Are you Saved?" This was just another way for him to witness for his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Keeble Richardson of the home, three sons, Jan Richardson of Carthage. NC, Wayne Richardson of Clinton, NC and Freddie Richardson of Belton, SC; three daughters, Martha Blake of West End, NC, Debbie Palmiter of Carthage, NC and Cindy Morgan of Eagle Springs, NC; two brothers Robert Richardson, Sam Richardson, and one sister Carol Richardson all of Carthage, NC. He has 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be at the residence, 8656 NC Highway 705, Eagle Springs, NC, on Friday, December 27, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM. The family would like to thank Cathie Wilmoth, Teri Russell, Phyllis Beaman and Donna Wilson for their help in caring for Preacher Fred. home surrounded by family.
