Gary Lee Vernon

Candor - Gary Lee Vernon, age 72, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Gary was born in Forsyth County on March 3, 1948, to Lee Vernon and Katherine Bowlin Vernon. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Tony Wooley. He is survived by his wife, Judy Britt Vernon of the home; sons, Andy Vernon of Charlotte, Terry Vernon of Pinebluff, Daniel Batten of Troy, and Zach Vernon of Candor; mother, Katherine Bowlin Wooley of Biscoe; sisters, Carolyn McNeill of Candor and Martha Wegner of Belmont; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Gary's body will lie in repose from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, at Phillips Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, at the Family Farm with Tony Sedberry officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.phillipsfh.com.
