Star - George Milton Kivett, 85, of Depot Street, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Moses H Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Mr. Kivett was born in Moore County to Charles Anderson and Sally Mae Russell Kivett. He attended the Citadel before joining the US Air Force, where he served during the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. George served as a commissioner for six years for the Town of Star and was the owner/operator of the Carriage House Bar and Grill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Birte Johanna Clausen Kivett and brother, William A. Kivett. He is survived by his sons, Peter S. Kivett of Star, Timothy S. Kivett of Biscoe; step-sons, Micheal O. Christiansen of Louisville, KY, Chris P. Christiansen of Apex; brother, Frank Kivett of Atlantic Beach; sister, Jane Willingham of Greensboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Carriage House Bar and Grill immediately following his memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society, c/o Sally Morris, 1150 Okeewemee Road, Troy, NC 27371 in George's memory. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carriage House Bar and Grill immediately following his memorial service.
