Helen Jenell Latham Greene

Biscoe - Helen Jenell Latham Greene, 96 years old, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Helen was born in Guilford County to the late Kelly and Bettie Parker Latham on January 24, 1924. She graduated from Biscoe High School in 1941. On November 30, 1941, she married Jonah Edward Greene, the love of her life. Jonah and Helen made their home in Biscoe and they started their family in 1944 with the birth of Eddie, followed by Betty Gail, Jenelle, and then Genevieve. They became active members of their community and were faithful and longtime members of First Baptist Church in Biscoe. Helen was very active in church where she taught the primary and beginner classes for 26 years. She worked in Bible School and sang in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed working on the hospitality and food group committee. Helen was a substitute teacher in the Montgomery County Schools for 26 years. She was a very talented seamstress and made clothes for her family, quilts, crafts, and aprons. She owned her own craft shop where she sold her homemade items and many other things of interest. The main focus of her life was her family. She and her loving husband Jonah (to whom she was married 73 years before his death) raised their children to love God through both word and deed. She was very proud of her four children, her four grandchildren, and her eight great-grandchildren. She always said," Family comes first". Helen shared her love and joy with whomever she met and her influence on their lives will be remembered forever. She was a good and faithful servant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jonah Edward Greene; her daughter, Betty Gail Greene Williams; and her brother, Jesse Latham. She is survived by her son, Eddie Greene (Joan), of Chapel Hill; daughters, Jenelle Greene of Raleigh and Genevieve Hinson (James) of Vass; grandchildren, Kelly, Reagan, Shay, and Rick; and great-grandchildren, Harrison, Jonah, Cole, Abram, Brooke, Lola, Harper, and Alice-Kate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church in Biscoe, PO Box 36, Biscoe, NC 27209.
