Helen Mills McKinnon, 87, of Mount Gilead, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at FirstHealth Moore Regional. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Allen and officiating. Interment will follow in Leach Cemetery. Mrs. McKinnon was born in Newberry, South Carolina to James Alexander and Agnes Gertrude Ledbetter Mills. She had previously worked in textiles. Surviving are her daughter, Darlene Brown, of Little River, SC; brother, Sammy Mills of Troy; sisters, Agnes Spivey of Seagrove and Linda Parsons of Star; niece/caregiver, Sue Whatley, of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM, Wednesday, November 5, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
