James Garland Comer

James Garland Comer of Seagrove passed away in his home at the age of 69.

Mr. Comer was born in Montgomery County on May 4, 1952, to Adam Garland and Thelma King Comer.

James was a graduate of North Moore High School (1970) and Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee.

His early career was as a diesel mechanic, before transitioning to long-distance truck driving from which he retired. His retirement years were spent gardening and spending time with family.

James was welcomed into Heaven by both of his parents Adam Garland Comer and Thelma King Comer of Seagrove. He is survived by son James Comer, Jr. (Ai) of Emerald Isle, NC; daughter Tiffany Comer Markewich (Stephen) of Palmer, Alaska; son Adam Comer (Priya) of Morgantown, West Virginia; grandchildren Chelsea and Jake Comer and Easton, Xander and Ila Markewich; and sister Patsy Harris (Steve) of Silk Hope, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he always enjoyed seeing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Asbury Baptist Church at 218 Asbury Church Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341.

Mr. Comer’s body will lie in repose on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star, NC, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.

As James was a long-time member of Asbury Baptist Church, a graveside service will be held there on Saturday at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Allan Mashburn and Rev. Wayne Bryson.
