James Edsel (J. E.) Hogan, Jr., 74, of 3326 US 220 Alt. N., Seagrove, died Saturday, December 04, 2010 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 06, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Martin E. Davis officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hogan was a native of Montgomery County born to James Edsel and Ruby Freeman Hogan. He was a member of White Oak Springs Primitive Baptist Church and a retired textile worker. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and giving away the produce. Surviving are: One Brother: Edward Hogan and wife, Mary Lou, of Seagrove, NC One Sister: Clarice Hogan Jones of Charlotte, NC Nephew: Eddie Hogan and wife, Karyn, of Seagrove Niece: Elaine McNeill and husband, Jimmy, of Seagrove three great nephews and one great niece Mr. Hogan was predeceased by his brother, Maurice Hogan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 05, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, and at other times at the home of Edward Hogan, 3338 US 220 Alt. N., Seagrove. Memorials may be made to the White Oak Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 61, Star, NC 27356.
