James Edward “Jimmy” Rich, age 49, was called home, unexpectedly, on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Cathy of the home. His son Brayden, who was his sidekick in life, of the home. His mother Sandy Rich, and brother Jason Rich, both of Sophia; nieces Makayla Smith and Madison Maness, and nephew, Mason Rich. Mother-in-law, Virginia Comer, brother-in-law, Richard Comer, and his wife Linda, along with all of his extended family and many close friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, C.W. Rich, and father-in-law Ervin Comer.
Jimmy was the most compassionate man you could ever meet. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anybody he could. He took life with a laid back and happy attitude and if you knew him, you were the lucky one. Jimmy was a great friend to many.
A devoted husband and father, whose world revolved around his wife and son. Always spending time with them, going to races, truck shows, fishing, and golfing. They loved to travel together on what they called Rich Adventures and would end up in all different places, but one of Jimmy’s favorite places to spend time with his family was at the beach. So many memories were made that now his wife and son will carry in their hearts forever.
Jimmy worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as the School Resource Officer for West Middle School. Once he started his position with West Middle, he soon discovered he had another family with the staff and students, with a goal of making a difference with each one of them. Working for the Sheriff’s Office in Montgomery County wasn’t just a job to Jimmy, it was his passion, and his co-workers weren’t just colleagues, they were an extension of brothers and sisters to him.
Jimmy will always be remembered by everyone who knew him as the kind and gentle soul that he was.
