Star - Jean Thompson Sullivan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Sandy Ridge Memory Care Center.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. An active member of New Hope Baptist Church and Star Halcyon Woman's Club, she always found ways to give back to her community. In addition to her famous cooking, she loved her beehives and was an advocate for individuals with disabilities. She worked for many years with Montgomery County School System, and later for Russell Hosiery and Charleston Hosiery. In her retirement she worked part time for First Bank, and was active with Meals on Wheels. Everywhere she worked she was loved for her kindness and gentle spirit.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ronnie Sullivan and her four children: Rhonda Winters (Marlon) of Trinity, Donna Sullivan of Star, Dan Sullivan (Lucinda) of Raleigh, and Ron Sullivan of Star. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tim Massey, Adrianne Massey, Drew Sullivan, Challie Sullivan, Hayley Jones, Harrison Sullivan and Trey Sullivan, six great grandchildren and brother, Sonny Thompson.
Her body will lie in state from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star.
A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, at Leach Cemetery with Rev. Jay Minnick and Rev. Gene Davis officiating.
