Jerry Donald Garner

Seagrove - Jerry Donald Garner, 73, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at UNC Hospitals.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Browns Chapel Christian Church with the Rev. Jeff Karnes and Rev. Michael Parenti officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with honors provided by area police officers.

Mr. Garner was born in Moore County to Luther and Mary Alice Comer Garner. He was a member of Browns Chapel Christian Church, where he was a deacon, superintendent, and Sunday school teacher. He was a police officer for 15 years and worked at Burlington Mills in Ramseur for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Bryson "Penny" Garner, of the home; daughter, Christie Sheffield (David), of Robbins; sons, Jereme Garner (Jennifer), of Seagrove, Chris Garner, of Robbins, brothers, James Winfred Garner (Doris) of Seagrove, Eddie Ray Garner (Sonny), of Charlotte, Jon Andre Garner (Nancy) of Seagrove; sister, Annette Kohari (Laslo), of Seagrove; three grandchildren, Ethan, Emily, and Aaron.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
