Star-Jerry Wayne Wilkes Sr., age 70, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Reid Heart Center in Pinehurst.
Mr. Wilkes was born in Montgomery County on January 22, 1951, to Fred and Kathleen Lemonds Wilkes. He was retired from Hallman Foundry. He loved gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Star as well as a Mason and former fireman for the Town of Star.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Holder and son, Jerry Wayne Wilkes Jr.
He is survived by his wife; Mildred Hubbard Wilkes of the home; daughter, Renee Bingham (Ken) of Norwood; son, Allan Wooten of Troy; stepdaughter, Julie Butler (Danny) of Sylacauga AL; stepson Garrett Oldham (Joyce) of Troy; sister, Mary Callicutt (Jim) of Star, and brother; J.C. Wilkes (Dot) of Biscoe, and daughter in law, Tonya Wilkes of Biscoe. Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday, August 22 from 2:00-3:30 pm at Phillips Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 22 at 4:00 pm at Biscoe Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating.
