Star - Jesse Franklin Owens, 95, of 4035 NC Hwy 134 N, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Stanly Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Suggs Creek Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Holder officiating. Mr. Owens was born in Richmond County to Joseph and Manda Lucas Owens. He was retired from Russell Hosiery Mill, Star. He was a flea market dealer and Rawleigh Products distributor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Willie Parks Owens. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Maness and husband, Roger, of Star; grandsons, Jesse Franklin Maness and wife, Andrea, of Graham, Jeremy Dale Maness and wife, Kelsey, of Star; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Sarah Kathryn Maness of Graham, Morgan Renee Maness of Star. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home of Roger and Vickie Maness, 4100 NC Hwy 134 N, Star.
