John Wesley Trantham

Ether - John W. Trantham, 69, of Ether, went to meet his heavenly maker on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mr. Trantham was a poultry producer for Perdue Farms and was a veteran of the US Navy where he served six years. He loved growing beautiful flowers with his wife and also loved his little Yorkies. He was preceded in death by both parents, Floyd and Mary Rhodes Trantham of Asheville NC. He has one daughter, Lisa Trantham Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Betty B. Trantham, of the home and several cousins. He also was loved by his step-daughters, Barbara Maness (Eugene) of Eldorado, Teresa Chriscoe of Ether, Wanda McNeil (Ron) of Seagrove, Crystal Beane (Dwaine) of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. The service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Shady Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
