Biscoe - Junie Whisnant Gadd, 85, of Griffin Farm Road, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Leach Cemetery with the Rev. Don McCaskill officiating. Mrs. Gadd was born in Avery County to Tillman and Adell Navy Whisnant. She was a former seamstress with Lynn Dean and was a retired cook with Autumn Care of Biscoe, where she was affectionately known as the "Dessert Lady". She taught Sunday school for thirty plus years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Gadd; son, Ricky Franklin Gadd; daughter, Deborah Smith; and brother, James Whisnant. She is survived by her children, Larry Gadd and Zona of Biscoe; son-in law, Tommy Smith, of Biscoe; grandchildren, Ricky Wayne Gadd and Jessica, Angel Robinson and Daniel, Holly Maness and Pablo, Sean Maness; great-grandchildren, Courtney Robinson, Miranda, and Izac Martinez; brother, Danny Whisnant and Ann, of Vass, Joe Whisnant of Texas; sisters, Opal Davis and Lawrence of Tennessee, Mabel Williamson of Asheboro, and Lady Gwyn and Marvin of Virginia; caregiver, Jean Duboise. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, on behalf of Junie Gadd, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Leach Cemetery with the Rev. Don McCaskill officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
