Biscoe - Rev. Lacy "Buck" Verlin Frye, 83, of US Hwy 220 Alt S, died Friday, October 30, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2015, at Page Memorial UMC, where he was a member, with the Rev. Vic Hill officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery with military honors.
Rev. Frye was born in Moore County to Lacy Newton and Laura Jane Smith Frye. He was a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force. He retired as a radar technician with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His career allowed him to serve in Vietnam, Germany, Philippines, and was last stationed at Lowery Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado.
After his military service, he was a self-employed auto mechanic and became an instructor at Montgomery Community College and then at Sandhills Community College.
With many years as a lay speaker, he entered the ministry in the early 90's. He was active with the Boy Scouts for 29 years and was a member of Biscoe Masonic Lodge # 437 AF & AM.
He and Marjorie were active in establishing the Community Food Pantry in Biscoe and were recognized with a dedication of the "Buck and Marjorie Frye Community Building".
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Strider Frye, of the home; son, Roger Frye and wife, Karen, of Troy; daughter, Kelly Morgan and husband, Randy, of Biscoe; brother, Marvin Frye and wife Mel, of West End; sister, Lois Culler and husband, Grady, of Whispering Pines; grandchildren, Justin, Kristin, and Allie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Frye; sisters, Lorena Monroe and Carolyn Frye.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
