Laney Bruce Bean

Seagrove - Laney Bruce Bean, age 60, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his vacation home in the mountains.

Laney was born in Montgomery County to Justin Harold and Nellie Mae Freeman Bean. He was a 1976 graduate of North Moore High School and was retired from Energizer in Asheboro. He had been a volunteer for the Randolph County Special Olympics, Special Friends Fishing Tournament, and Scout Troop 571.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roger Harold Bean.

He is survived by his sisters, Sharon B. Thompson (Ronnie), Amelia B. Cranford (Ken), and Nancy B. Garner (Bobby), all of Seagrove; sister-in-law, Joyce R. Bean; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, and other times at the home of Ronnie and Sharon Thompson.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Center Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Bean and Rev. Grant Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Laney had a heart of gold. If you needed anything, he would always give you what you needed. He loved to bring his family and friends produce back from the mountains. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
