Eagle Springs - Lessie McKenzie Williams, 99, of Eagle Springs, died peacefully Monday, October 6, 2014, at her home. She has inherited her mansion that was promised to her many years ago. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She enjoyed helping others and was a dear friend to many who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. We will have many precious memories to remember her by. The most precious will be the love she had for us and how she taught us about Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Josephine McKenzie; a brother, Clyde McKenzie; sister, Dora Cooper; her husband of 60 years, Claude Williams, infant son, Quincy Alexander Williams; daughter, Johnsie Johnson; daughter-in-law, Louise Williams; sons-in-law, James Baxter and Paul Johnson; granddaughters, Carolyn Hussey and Sherry Horner; grandsons, Dale Baxter and Ernest Williams; two infant grandchildren; three infant great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by daughters, Mildred Baxter and Doris Brewer (Wilmer), of Robbins; Helen Greene (Gurnie) of Eagle Springs; Pearl Shepard (Ronald) of Star; sons, Earl Williams and Wayne Williams, of Eagle Springs; Billy Williams (Maybelle) of Robbins; Clyde Williams (Carol) of Lakeview; Glen Williams (Janice) of Star; 23 grandchildren; 47 great- and step-great-grandchildren; 40 great-great- and step-great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 10, 2014, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Reynolds, Rev. Jimmy Shirlen, and Rev. Hubert McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Many thanks to her caregivers, Pam Frye, Marie Ryan, Angie Shepard, Helen Greene, Pearl Shepard, and FirstHealth Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o James Myrick, 488 Browers Mill Road, Star, NC 27356; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101; or FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
