Seagrove - Rev. Martin Eli Davis, 86 of King Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 19, 2014. He loved his family, his church, and most of all his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Biscoe. He served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member of VFW Post 9881, where he was the post chaplain. He loved the outdoors especially his garden, which was one of his many passions. He was a servant in many ways to God and man. He strived to live Christlike. He was a dedicated man who always went out of his way to help others be it friend or stranger and never asked for anything in return. He was unselfish in his service to the Lord to whom he loved to sing and play music for. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Exie Page Davis; brothers, Herbert, Calvin, and Clinton Davis; great-grandchild, Kaylee Harvel; son-in-law, Michael Lambirth. Martin is survived by his wife, Alice, of the home; daughters, Shirley Bowles (Marvin) of Pinebluff, Rhonda Harris (Mark) of Roxboro, Brenda Lambirth of Asheboro; sons, Danny Davis (Debbie) of Seagrove, Douglas Davis of the home; sisters, Ottie McQueen (James) of Star, Dorothy Davis; brother, Joe Davis (Pat) of Seagrove; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, November 21, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, at Asbury Baptist Church in Seagrove with the Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Star. Ecclesiastes 12 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Matthew 25 23 His Lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
