Mrs. Mary Colleen Asbill McIver, 96, of 516 Aileen Avenue, Biscoe, widow of the late Henry Burney McIver, Jr. of Winston Salem, died March 26, 2011 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.
Funeral will be 11:00 am Monday, March 28, at Biscoe Presbyterian Church of which she was a member. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.
She was a native of Biscoe but had lived in Winston Salem from 1943 until 1987. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of City Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Winston Salem and remained on the staff until it closed. She then transferred to the new Forsyth Memorial Hospital as Assistant Director of Nursing Services and retired after thirty years in nursing. She was made a life member of the North Carolina and American Nurses Association following forty-five years of continuous membership. She was a Red Cross volunteer.
While in Winston Salem, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Following her husband's death, she returned to Biscoe to be near her family and was active in her childhood church, Biscoe Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Isaac and Arie Vastine Asbill; brothers, Charles C., Robert L., William C., James D., and Ralph J. Asbill.
Surviving is her sister, Ruth Morgan, of Ether, NC and eighteen special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00, Sunday, March 27, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, and other times at the home of Ruth Morgan, 136 Ether Road, Ether, NC.
