Biscoe - Mary Thomas "Butch" Barrett, 68, of 320 Cagle Street, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Hoods Chapel AME Zion Church in Biscoe, with the Rev. Keith Ellerbe officiating. Interment will be in Lewis-Lyle Cemetery, Cedar Creek Road, Biscoe.
Mrs. Barrett was born in Montgomery County to Benjamin Harrison and Mary Mitchell Baldwin Thomas. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1962, was a former employee in the Boarding Department at Clayson Knitting Company, and was a ten year cancer survivor. She was a member of Hoods Chapel AME Zion Church, where she served on the Usher Board and was a conference worker in the church.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Claudis E. Barrett, of the home; daughters, Kiana Barrett and Ketrice Robinson, both of the home; sisters, Brenda Rorie, of Biscoe, Arlene Leak, of Lexington; brothers, Benjamin Thomas, Jr., of Biscoe, Samuel Thomas, of Greensboro, Robert Baldwin, of Biscoe, James Baldwin, of Mt. Gilead; several grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, March 30, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
