Mary Ina Richardson

Mary Ina Greene Richardson, age 75, of Candor, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

She was born in Montgomery County on September 1, 1947, to the late Clarence C. Greene and the late Carrie Nell (Stewart) Greene. She married her husband on March 11, 1967 at Sardis United Methodist Church in Candor. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver for many other children that became like extended family. She lived most of her married life in Rockwell, NC before returning to the hometown she loved.  

Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jimmy Gearl Richardson of the home; son: Christopher Richardson (Missy) of Bear Creek, NC; daughter: Holly Almond (Jonathan) of Mocksville, NC; grandchildren: Dalton Richardson, Laney Richardson, Riley Almond, and Jonah Almond; sisters: Kathy Greene, Janet Powers (Tom), Tammie Reynolds (Larry), all of Candor; and brother-in-law Johnny Bowers also of Candor. She was preceded in death by her two precious sons: Jimmy Gearl Richardson, Jr. and Michael Shane Richardson, and sister Doris Bowers.  

Mary was a member of Long Hill Baptist Church in Troy. She enjoyed talking with friends, riding her UTV on the farm and trips to the mountains but her greatest joy was her four grandchildren.  

A funeral service for Mrs. Richardson will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Sardis United Methodist Church, 1478 NC Hwy. 731E, Candor, NC, with the Rev. Glenn Hancock and the Rev. Benny Vickery officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
