Biscoe - Paul Edward Hussey, Sr., age 90, grew up in the Moore County area of Robbins, NC. As a young man, he developed a love for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball.
Paul enlisted in the Army as a young man and was very proud of his military service for his country. He became a Staff Sergeant for the US Army. After the Army, he married the love of his life, Thelma Johnson. They were married for 63 years. Paul loved his family, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Paul liked to live life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel. Paul and Thelma traveled to 48 of the 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, but one of his favorite places to vacation was Myrtle Beach, SC.
Paul was also a competitor who loved to compete and especially loved to win. When he retired from work, he competed each year in the Senior Games and was very proud of the Senior Metals that he won. He also loved to tell a good story, which could be very entertaining and long at times, "Ha Ha". Paul was also a fighter, staying active through his sickness and disease. He fought very hard all the way to the end.
He was born in Moore County on October 10, 1928, to Bertie and Bertie Allred Hussey. He was a retired hosiery mill fixer and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Brooke Hussey; sisters, Virginia Rumbly, Ima Beck, and Ruby Guy.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Johnson Hussey, of the home; daughter, Donna Rae Hussey, of Biscoe; son, Paul Hussey, Jr. and wife, Marie, of Biscoe; grandson, Patrick Hussey and wife, Morgan, of Troy; and great-grandsons, Jasper and Jack.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m., Monday, January 14, at First Baptist Church, Biscoe.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Josh Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Biscoe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
