Peggy Ann Freeman Burroughs

Candor - Peggy Ann Freeman Burroughs, 72, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Lamonds and Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Burroughs was born in Montgomery County to Willie Dowell “Bill” and Mary Christine Townsend Freeman. She was a retired knitter at Clayson Knitting Co. Inc., with 40 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelia Lamb, and brother, Billy Freeman.

She is survived by her son, Stephen L. Burroughs (Audrey) of Candor; daughter, Michelle Overton (Kevin), of Biscoe; brothers, Mickey Freeman (Frances), of Mt. Gilead, Pat Freeman (Arlene), of Troy; sister, Margaret Winters, of Ackerman, Mississippi; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and Bobby Lee Burroughs.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, May 27, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
