Peggy Kern Hammond

Peggy Kern Hammond, age 82, formerly of Star, passed away on August 10, 2022.

Peggy was born in Randolph County on April 5, 1940 to the late John and Margaret Deaton Kern. After graduating from Peace College Preparatory, where she was the President of her graduating class, she went on to study Elementary Education earning a Bachelor of Arts from Greensboro College. She was a retired educator.

Peggy dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother.  She was a passionate friend who filled her home with warmth, kindness and fabulous cooking.  She will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her son John Kern II (Angie) of Asheboro; daughter Margaret Hammond of Randleman; and sister Linda Dunn (Ed) of Hampstead. Granddaughters Margaret Kern and Carlyle Kern both of Asheboro as well as nephews Eddie Dunn and Trey Dunn of Wilmington.

Ms. Hammonds body will lie in repose at Phillips Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Star United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. Hee Jun Yang and Rev. Margo Gaddy officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service.
