Rachel Williams Kern

Mrs. Rachel Williams Kern, age 85, formerly of Star, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Rittenhouse Senior Living in Hoover, Alabama. Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, at Star United Methodist Church with Rev. David Foushee and Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will be in Leach Cemetery. Mrs. Kern was born in Montgomery County to Lacy and Bertie Louise Brown Williams. She was a retired secretary with Russell Hosiery Mill. After retirement, she was owner and operator of Kern Flowers and an assisted living facility. She was a member of Star United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 111. Surviving are: Son: Ron Kern and his wife, Lynda, of Birmingham, AL Brother: Lacy Williams, Jr. and his wife, Macy, of Fayetteville, NC Sister: Merial Russell and her husband, Bobby, of Star, NC Grandson: Chuck Kern of Moody, AL The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, October 30, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
